Building My Dream Life in 2021

This is the article I mentioned in this youtube video. Glendon Cameron and his corporate strategy is a HUGE motivation to me. And here’s what I’m actually doing on a daily basis to achieve my goals.

  1. Learn more about business/money

Learn more to earn more. I’m learning as much as I possibly can and also gradual process of incorporating more “greens”  into my media diet. I’m requesting and actually reading business and educational books from the library. I’m trying a rotation of business-centric podcasts and youtube channels in addition to my diet of handbag reviews, “day in the lives” and reality TV. The more I consume, the more I want to consume. I’m learning more about business, the kind of work that I do, and the kind of work I want to learn how to do. This is strengthening my earning muscle and I will continue to do this as well.

  1. Visualize – Getting clear about what I really want and why

This is another daily practice that I use to be more intentional and connect with why I’m doing what I’m doing. Every day, I spend some time being quiet, thankful, and intentional about life. It works best when done first thing in the morning, before the day gets busy. I start with silence, then I move on to very specific thanksgiving and gratitude, then I mix in some affirmations, and I finish off by visualizing the

  1. Take concrete daily steps

Open the account. Write the article. Take the next step. Sometimes the next step is thoroughly researching the available options and committing to a decision by a certain date. The next step is often sitting down and dedicating time to solving a certain problem or deciding to pay someone to fix it for me. Just take the next step

  1. Gave myself permission to spend whatever I want on food (within reason)

This was an unintentional experiment in July -I also listened to Glendon Cameron talk about how he spends whatever he wants on food and I thought that seemed like a good idea, so I wanted to do it too. I simply allowed myself to spend whatever I wanted on food in general. That included groceries, restaurants, random food out – I was allowed to spend whatever I wanted on food. I splurged on greens, collagen, and protein powder. I bought the big expensive avocados. I bought groceries from the Korean grocery store with a few pre-made items in the order. I also splurged on food at a minor league ball game for the 4th of July. It wasn’t the best quality, but it made a great memory! I also had sushi, drinks out with friends, and fancy salad twice just because.

Looking back over my spending and bank statements, absolutely every one of those transactions brings back a happy memory. It’s not something I want to do on a regular basis because I certainly don’t want to “eat” my retirement, but I am giving myself permission to enjoy life in the area of healthy, fun, nourishing food. It really did feel like a dream.

  1. Get in the game!

I belong to a Facebook group for people who are looking to change their lives. One woman posted that her dream was to be a full time TV presenter. She had just applied for a promotion at her day job, but sadly found out that the job was unexpectedly withdrawn. The very next day she found out that she was offered her dream job as a full time TV presenter!

Then I thought to myself, you just don’t get offered TV presenter jobs out of thin air. A quick glance at her instagram bio revealed that she had worked for a nonprofit for 10 years, but was a part time TV host on the side.  She was slogging away in the trenches for little or no pay for years before her big break appeared.

This is the moral of the story – just get in the game! You must be playing for your big break to appear.

  1. i like this thought process, its the same as you have to be in the game to paint the picture………… only so much of life can be done seperated from the game, trying to find the strategy and perceptions and etc etc etc, that will work for you.
